Gosh it is gorgeous outside today. I'm looking out my window and the sky is blue with some white translucent clouds overhead, swathed like veils. The grass (grass!) is green and the air pleasant to breath, a little edge to it, after all, it is January.

January!

I can't believe it is January and I am in Central NY! See the picture at top for January 2006 in my neighborhood at around 3pm the one on the botttom is January 2005 at Onondaga Lake at about this time.

All my family in warmer climes dismiss it and say "Oh that's just the regular January thaw Syracuse always gets."

Forgive me, but doesn't "thaw" imply a "freeze". Aside from a light frosting and some sub 20 degree temps for a day or two, there has been no major "freeze."

I'm guessing its either global warming (then how to explain Moscow--eh?) or the weather gods are just siding with us for a change and enjoying thumbing their nose at National Grid. (take that and a raspberry too!).
